What is Horsin Around?
Horsin' Around is a weekly class offered by the Mid-South Dressage Academy. It is free to attend
and is open to all ages and experience levels. We have 4 levels of classes, beginning at Freshman and concluding with Senior.
Don't know mane from tail when it comes to horses? Start with the Freshman class and see how quickly you can become comfortable
and confident around the barn. For those students who are a little more advanced in their horsemanship theory, we have Sophomore,
Junior and Senior levels available.
A Free Class?
You bet. Attendance is 100% free. Some activities have an extra cost associated (for example, if we
go see a horse movie for class), and the textbooks cost $25 each. Textbooks are required for students who are interested in
moving through the Academy levels (Freshman, Sophomore, etc).
What About
Riding?
Horsin' Around follows a classroom-style curriculum. Students
do not ride in Horsin' Around classes. However, students can earn riding lessons by regularly attending and participating
in Horsin' Around classes and other MDA activities! For every class/event attended, students will earn a number of points.
Every 10 points equals a free riding lesson! Riding lessons are a great way to supplement material learned in Horsin' Around;
we encourage participants to contact our instructors to set up lessons.
